Dr Suzuki points out that, objectively, people are big animals, and the total biomass on Earth due to human beings is quite large. We are also large in terms of our demands upon the natural world, and, in fact, each one of us consumes many times more than the world’s natural carrying capacity for us. This is possible because of technology, and fossil fuels.
